today i raced the 2 mile and 800. i put the 800 place and time because that was my favorite race of the two.

first was the 2 mile. i was thinking in my mind that i would get a 9:30 and got into position to do so. it was a very got day again, i'm glad the cedar girls were spraying water on us as we went by, although i don't know how much it  helped. beginning was fine, me and tyson took turns leading till i couldn't stay up with him anymore for mental issues. one of the other kids that tried to stay with us made me really mad because he would run ahead of me then slow down and as i tried to pass him he would get in my way and elbow me so he would stay in front. so on one part i went out into lane 3-4 where he couldn't reach me (and he tried to!) and sped past him then elbowed him in the chest.... he fell back and i never saw him again. we got a good 150 meter lead and the closest guy which was the dixie kid that won yesterday's mile so coach told us to slow way down the last lap and a half and to cruize it in for an easy first and second so we would be more fresh for the 800. Place: 2; Time: 9:55.

800 was an amazing race for me. i was ranked 10th with my slow 2:06 time and i was just hopeing to get in the top 8 to score some points. first lap went by fast and i hung behind in about 8 but i felt amazing. didn't hear my split cause our time reader was horrible. but on the second lap i just... went. and for the first time i pushed my legs down into the ground instead of stretching them out to sprint and i went so much faster than i ever have and it felt a lot easier. so with 300 left i caught the lead group really fast, it had about 6 people in it. 200 left i had to run in the 3rd lane around the last corner in order to get around 2 other kids. then with 100 left i had 3 cedar kids in front of me and i dived in between two kids one of them sticking with me. i saw that we were fighting for 4th place and i wasn't going to let him have it. i sprinted as hard and i have ever sprinted and in the end i edged him out. afterword i couldn't walk for 10 minutes. but i got 4th and top 4 make it to state! goal is to get sub 2 at state!

Awesome job today! Way to run smart in the 3200 and save it up for the 8... I love your description of how the final sprint played out - it gets me all fired up - I want to race on the track again! Way to hang tough and give it everything you have. When you can't walk afterwards, you know you did it right!
